When I am on an assignment, very long hours are required.
But, the job pays very well. So, I can support myself by taking just a few jobs. The rest of the time is my own.

Job Requirements: What skills does this job require?
You have to know what you are doing.
The companies I worked at used Dreamweaver.
You should know everything Dreamweaver does.You should have a good background knowledge of HTML and CSS.
If you are part of a team, you don’t have to know everything. But, you should know what people are talking about.

I took a 9-week night school class. Then I read every book I could find. I used “view code” on websites to see how they did things and recreated them.

Certification is available, but not required.
Do you have to own tools?
You probably need a good computer and a Dreamweaver license.

What previous experience would help?
While I was taking the class, I made websites.
I started making websites for friends.
That way I could demonstrate what I was able to do.

You can specialize in CSS, PHP, ASP, Java, Perl, JavaScript, SEO…
You can’t know everything. Nobody can. There is just too much to keep up with. You have to be willing to be wrong. What was true yesterday may not be true today. What worked yesterday may not work today. You should be a good problem solver.
What do you like best about this job?
This can be a very creative job.
The pay can be very good.
It is never boring.
In some areas there are a lot of agencies placing web professionals, so it is very easy to get a job.
